UV Flexo Shrink Sleeve Inks
Wadaan UV Flexo Shrink Sleeve Ink is specifically formulated for shrink sleeve applications requiring extremely low odour. High flexibility and excellent rheology suit a range of printing equipment. The ink can shrink up to 70%, depending on the application.
Substrates
- PVC, PETG, PLA and polystyrene; MDO or TDO orientation
- BOPP films and polyethylene
- Coated paper and board
- Corona treatment may be necessary for some applications
Press setup
- Anilox: 300–1200 lines per inch, corresponding to 7.5–0.8 bcm volume
- Compatible with most UV flexo plates
- Press-ready formulation; mix thoroughly before printing
- Also suitable for surface printing
UV curing
Cures under a medium-pressure mercury vapor lamp at 300–600 watts per inch. Thorough cure is critical to low odour and low migration. These settings are starting guidelines; determine cure parameters under actual production conditions.
Additives
Thoroughly mix additives into the ink before each use and test adjustments before production. The 2022 TDS states that the ink was formulated using ingredients specified by the Nestlé Guidance Note on Packaging Ink, version 02-2014, and calls for compliant additives.
Fade resistance
Designed for interior applications. Extended fade-resistance inks are available.
Storage and handling
- Maintain ink temperature at 18–32°C (65–90°F) for optimum print and cure performance
- Keep away from heat, flame and direct light to prevent premature curing or gelling
- Stray UV light can cure the ink; use light filters and keep containers covered
- Store ink from the press separately; do not return it to the original container

Performance verification
Before full production, check the printed web for cure, adhesion, mar and rub resistance, product resistance, gloss and coefficient of friction.
